Tottenham Hotspur Under-21 defender Milos Veljkovic has revealed that he is not going to sign a new contract with the club.

The Serbian defender was a crucial part of Serbia’s Under-20 team that won the World Cup earlier this year and has been a key performer for the Tottenham Under-21s over the last few seasons.

However, the defender has failed to secure a spot in the first team squad and has only made three senior appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Pochettino is known for providing opportunities to youngsters, but has been reluctant to play Veljkovic in the senior team, despite the defender making a name for himself at Under-21 level.

The Serbian is tired of waiting for his opportunity at White Hart Lane and confirmed that he is not going to sign a new contract with the club. He also revealed that he has offers from his homeland.

Veljkovic told Zurnal: “I have told them I will not extend my contract which expires this summer.

“Both Red Star [Belgrade] and Partizan Belgrade have been in touch, but they did not promise me anything.

“I told them we would talk after the games against Italy and Slovenia [for Serbia Under-21s].”

He was linked with a loan move to Leeds United in the summer, but the transfer never materialised as he wanted assurances about his playing time at Elland Road.

Veljkovic’s contract with Spurs expires at the end of the season and he may now be sold in the January transfer window.
