Rangers boss Mark Warburton believes young striker Ryan Hardie has a great opportunity to succeed at Ibrox and must grab it.

Hardie is highly rated by Warburton, who is determined to give him every chance to make an impact for the Gers.

Despite the intense pressure to win the Scottish Championship this season, Warburton has already involved Hardie twice this term and the striker was in line to feature against Hibernian recently, only being denied by illness.

The former Brentford manager told Rangers' official site: "I’m delighted for Ryan, he’s worked hard and he’s scored goals, he’s improving, shown a great attitude, great work rate.

"He’s well-liked by the squad here so he’s ticking a lot of boxes, but he knows he’s at the start of a long road", Warburton continued.

"So to really maximise that potential that he has, he’s got a great opportunity here.

"He’s earned that opportunity so now go and take it Ryan. If he carries on his progress I’m sure he’ll be fine", the Rangers boss added.

It remains to be seen whether 18-year-old Hardie is involved for Rangers this weekend when they make the journey to the Tony Macaroni Arena to face Livingston.

Rangers currently sit top of the Scottish Championship table, but have seen Hibernian close the gap at the summit to just two points; the Gers do though boast a game in hand on Alan Stubbs' men.
