Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal admits he could field James Wilson as a replacement for the ill Wayne Rooney against Watford tomorrow, but the striker cannot play 90 minutes.

Van Gaal is without Rooney due to illness, while Anthony Martial is out injured, meaning his striking options are stretched for the trip to Vicarage Road.

An opportunity has then been presented for young striker Wilson, but Van Gaal feels a lack of game time means the player cannot manage 90 minutes.

The Dutch manager told MUTV: "Wilson can play but he cannot play a whole match because he doesn't have the rhythm of the game."

In addition to being without Rooney and Martial, Van Gaal will also have to make do without midfield pair Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick.
