Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has indicated that he won’t be wearing the Reds colours during the MLS off season.

The iconic former Liverpool midfielder left his boyhood club at the end of last season after his contract with the club expired and joined MLS outfit LA Galaxy.

With the MLS season ending a few weeks ago for the midfielder, there has been speculation that Gerrard could be returning to the club in the January transfer window and there have also been suggestions that he could train with his former club during the off season.

Gerrard poured cold water over all the speculation surrounding his possible return to Liverpool and said that he need not play in Europe to remain fit as he is not playing for England anymore.

The midfielder is more interested in taking some time off from the pitch for the time being and then preparing for the long season ahead of him in the MLS.

“I need to get some rest because I’ve got a very long season ahead next year, so it’s very important I come back strong, rested and ready to go again.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is open to the idea of Gerrard training with the club during the MLS off season.
