Empoli are expecting furious bidding war for their attacking midfielder Riccardo Saponara next summer.

The 23-year-old Italian has been instrumental in keeping Empoli out of the relegation quagmire this season and has already notched up four goals and nine assists for the club.

His performances have not gone unnoticed and a number of clubs in Italy and across Europe are keen to snare the midfielder away from Empoli in the near future.

Juventus and Roma are keeping a close watch on his performances and it has been suggested that Liverpool are keen to take him to England in January.

Empoli have made it clear that they won’t sell Saponara in January, but according to Italian daily La Nazione, they are expecting some sort of an auction to take place for their player next summer.

The club are not keen to lose him in the middle of the season, but it is understood that they are not averse to selling him to the highest bidder at the end of the season.

Fiorentina are also said to be keen on the player and have contacted the Empoli hierarchy to discuss a deal for Saponara.

He has a contract until 2018 at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.
