West Ham United assistant coach Julian Dicks has declared that his side are aiming to remain in the top six of the Premier League, ahead of their meeting with Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow.

The Hammers have been a force to reckon with in the present campaign, having already defeated big clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.

West Ham’s good form this season has propelled the club to sixth place in the standings, with 21 points from 12 games, just five adrift of leaders Manchester City.

However, the Upton Park outfit received a big blow recently as their star performer Dimitri Payet, who has scored five league goals this season, was ruled out for three months with an ankle injury.

But with Alex Song and Diafra Sakho returning from their respective injury layoffs, Dicks feels keeping players fit will be very important in the club’s bid to remain in top six of the league.

“Losing Dimitri is a massive blow for us. He has been fantastic for us but these things happen in football and the players who come in have to do a job”, he told West Ham’s official site.

“There is positive news with Diafra Sakho and Alex Song back in action because he has been missing for quite a while.

"He has been back in training for the last few weeks so we are getting players back.

“We want to stay in the top six and that is the aim for the coaches and players. It is important that we keep the players fit.”
