Oxford United chief executive Mark Ashton has revealed that the club are yet to receive any formal offer for Kemar Roofe.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who has been linked with Premier League strugglers Newcastle United, has been in great form for the League Two outfit in the present campaign.

Roofe scored the winner in the 1-0 victory over Cambridge United at the weekend to take his goalscoring tally to 10 in 19 games this season.

And Ashton admitted that although there has been some talk about a transfer for Roofe, whose present deal at Oxford United runs until 2018, the Us have received no formal approach for the youngster.

"Nobody has called directly on Kemar Roofe or about any of our players", Ashton told BBC Radio Oxford.

"There's lots of chatter in the background from agents, but that's what the industry is like."

Roofe, who is a product of West Bromwich Albion’s youth system, left the club for Oxford permanently in the summer after failing to make his mark at the Hawthorns.

During his time with the Baggies, the 22-year-old made loan moves to Northampton Town, Cheltenham Town and Oxford United amongst others.
