Peterborough United youngster Jermaine Anderson has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of Dele Alli by boss Graham Westley.

The pair turned out together in the England Under-18 ranks, but Alli has since kicked on, linking up with Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and breaking through into Roy Hodgson's senior Three Lions squad.

Westley has faith in Anderson, who scored twice in Peterborough's 5-1 win away at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, and believes he can follow Alli's feats with achievements of his own.

"There's no reason why Jermaine can't progress like Dele Alli", the Posh boss told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"He's a fantastic athlete and a fantastic learner", Westley continued.

"He's a terrific lad, a very, very talented footballer technically, he's now adding some goals to his games."

Anderson provided the cross for Peterborough's first goal against Crewe, while he bagged his side's third and fourth to kill off the Alex at Gresty Road.

Following their win over the Railwaymen, the Posh are now just three points outside the playoff places in League One.

Westley will be hoping he can keep hold of Anderson in the winter transfer window.
