Real Madrid Castilla manager Zinedine Zidane has revealed that he is not thinking about replacing first team boss Rafael Benitez.

Benitez’s position as Real Madrid boss has come under heavy scrutiny, following their disappointing 4-0 loss at the hands of Barcelona.

Los Blancos, who appointed the Spaniard at the start of the season, are currently third in La Liga with 24 points from 12 games, six behind leaders Barcelona.

But Zidane insisted that things are fine with Benitez being the Real Madrid manager.

The Frenchman, who spent five seasons at the Bernabeu Stadium as a player between 2001 and 2006, further added that he feels he still has a long way to go before becoming the first team manager of Real Madrid.

“Replace Benítez? I’m the Castilla coach and Benítez is the first-team coach. Things are in their proper place the way they are at the moment”, Zidane was quoted as saying by Spanish daily AS.

“For now I’m with Castilla and if I stayed at the club it was to manage Castilla. Last year at the end of the season I got the sensation that I still have some way to go before I make that step up to the first team.”

Real Madrid, who lost their last two league fixtures against Sevilla and Barcelona respectively, will next face Shakhtar Donetsk in a Champions League fixture on Wednesday before resuming their La Liga duties against Eibar four days later.
