Celtic are on the trail of 23-year-old German striker Lennart Thy, who is shining in the 2. Bundesliga with St Pauli.

Thy hit an astonishing four goals for St Pauli against Fortuna Dusseldorf, a game his side won 4-0, earlier this month, taking his total number of goals for the season to five.

According to German daily Bild, Celtic are known to be keeping a close eye on Thy's exploits ahead of a potential bid for the striker.

The Bhoys are keen to reinforce their squad, but any deal in the winter transfer window may depend on whether they can successfully qualify for the Europa League knockout round.

Celtic signed Nadir Ciftci in the summer, but the former Dundee United man has struggled to dislodge Leigh Griffiths from the starting eleven.
