Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has recalled his 30-yard stunner against Galatasaray in the Champions League group stage last year.

The goal was voted the third best in last season’s Champions League and it also won Arsenal’s goal of the season.

The Welshman has a penchant for the spectacular and as the Gunners gear up to take on Dinamo Zagreb, Ramsey has recollected that thunderous volley which flew past Turkish shot-stopper Sinan Bolat. Arsenal went on to win 4-1 on the night, with Ramsey and Lukas Podolski both scoring braces.

The ball fell in front of Ramsey around 30 yards from the goal, when the midfielder made a perfect connection on the half volley with his left foot.

"I hit it and I knew straight away that it had a chance of going in", Ramsey said in an interview with UEFA.

"I just thought, 'Why not?'. If it goes way over we can get the team back into shape and regroup.

"You know, sometimes when you just hit the sweet spot in the ball and it's headed towards goal it's going to have a chance, and thankfully it just went into the top corner.

"It's definitely the best goal I've ever scored."

The 24-year-old has been sidelined for around a month with a hamstring injury, but returns to the squad for tonight’s clash against Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates stadium.

Ramsey’s return will be a huge boost for the Gunners, who will be looking to set the record straight against the Croatian side.
