Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has explained that he is not pleased with his side’s upcoming fixture schedule.

Spurs, who thrashed West Ham 4-1 at the weekend, will have to fly six hours to Azerbaijan in order to play Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday before facing Premier League champions Chelsea three days later.

Tottenham were in the midst of similar fixture congestion earlier in the month, when they had to face Aston Villa, Anderlecht and Arsenal within a week.

But Pochettino feels the upcoming fixture schedule is worse, as his side have to travel long distance to face Qarabag in midweek and then return and prepare for the Chelsea game on Sunday.

“I laugh. It is like the week when we played Monday, Thursday and Sunday", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"Maybe it's worse because you need to fly nearly six hours, and then there is the decision about whether to come straight back or stay.

"It's very difficult because both decisions are bad."

Tottenham are currently atop Group J of the Europa League with seven points from four games, three ahead of third-placed Quarabag, whom they defeated 3-1 in the corresponding fixture at White Hart Lane in September.
