Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has expressed his delight following his side’s 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb last night.

Mesut Ozil opened the scoring at the Emirates Stadium, before an Alexis Sanchez brace helped seal the win for the Gunners.

Arsene Wenger’s side needed to win their last two fixtures of Group F to have a chance to qualify for the knockout round of the Champions League.

Following a dismal start to their European campaign, which included three losses out of their first four games, the Gunners now need to beat Greek side Olympiacos by a two goal margin to ensure qualification.

Bayern Munich ensured qualification as group leaders following their 4-0 win over Olympiacos and their trip to Croatia to face Dinamo Zagreb is a dead rubber.

Cech was delighted with his side’s win over the Blues and was thankful towards Bayern Munich for beating Olympiacos. If the Bavarians had failed to beat the Reds, Arsenal would have been knocked out of the Champions League and relegated to a Europa League spot.

“We are obviously delighted with the way we managed to win our game and with the fact Bayern Munich put in a strong performance and won their game. That is what we needed in today’s round”, he said to the club’s official website.

“We did our bit, they did their bit and it is now a grand finale for us in the last game, and we are literally entering the play-off already. So we are going into a play-off situation and we know what we need to get so hopefully we will be ready for that.”

The Czech shot-stopper is expecting his side to get the desired result in Greece, which will help them get into the mix for the last 16 draw.

“Well, they were very efficient when they played here so we know if we create chances, play our game and put them under pressure, we have a chance to score our goals in the game and make the difference we need.

“So we can go in a confident mood because a few rounds ago we were almost out of the competition and now we have everything in our hands to progress. That is the situation, which is actually good for us.

“You don’t want to miss the play-off games. We need to make sure we go there and get the result no matter how and [get] in the draw for the last 16.”
