Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has expressed his satisfaction at playing under new Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Croatian international feels that Klopp has instilled self-belief within the team and the result has been evident in the Reds’ recent matches.

The Reds take on Bordeaux in matchday five of the Europa League and a win would ensure qualification for Klopp’s side. However, they need to win both of their remaining matches if they want to top Group B.

Liverpool come into the game on the back of a 4-1 annihilation of Premier League challengers Manchester City, but it has been their home form which has been worrying.

The Reds lost their last home encounter at Anfield against Crystal Palace, and have won only one of their last five home games, drawing three.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Lovren said: “It’s a great pleasure to play under Jurgen. We all know what he achieved at Borussia Dortmund.

“We need to believe and work harder than before. When you put these things together, it ends in a win.

“He made big changes in the team. But the most important thing he said is we need to believe in ourselves and I think we've started to do that in the last couple of matches.”

The 26-year-old does not feel that the intensity against tomorrow’s opposition will be similar to that against Manchester City on Saturday. However, the defender added that the Anfield outfit respect everyone and the outcome of the match depends on the players.

Lovren is hopeful that his side can replicate Saturday’s performance against Bordeaux.

“We approach all game in the same way. Against Bordeaux the intensity will not be like City.

“We know it will be a tough game, Bordeaux are a quality team in the French league.

“We respect everyone but everything depends on us.

“We need to win if we want to be first in the group so definitely we expect a hard game, but I think especially after the last game against Manchester City, that we have much more confidence in ourselves and hopefully we can repeat that match.”
