PSV Eindhoven boss Phillip Cocu has explained that his side are confident about attaining a positive result against Manchester United in the Champions League tonight.

The Dutch giants, who are currently second in Group B of the continental competition with six points, just one behind leaders Manchester United, defeated the Red Devils 2-1 in the corresponding fixture in September.

And Cocu feels the win at the Philips Stadion has provided PSV confidence ahead of their game at Old Trafford.

But the manager, who guided PSV to the Eredivisie title last season, insisted that he is expecting a difficult game against the Premier League outfit in their own backyard.

“Because we won at home, of course it gives the team the confidence of a good result”, Cocu was quoted as saying by UEFA’s official site.

“You have to believe in something to achieve it. Even if it is a difficult game to play away, in a fantastic stadium, you have to believe in your chances.

“It gives us confidence that we did it on our home ground and we will try to do it again.”

PSV, who drew 2-2 with Willem II in the Eredivisie at the weekend, have managed to win two of their four Champions League fixtures this season.

The Red and Whites are however yet to register an away win in the competition, having lost both to CSKA Moscow and Wolfsburg on the road.
