Former Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven defender Jaap Stam wants the Dutch champions to go for the kill at Old Trafford tonight.

Manchester United are currently leading the Champions League Group B, ahead of PSV Eindhoven and a win tonight at home will guarantee them a place in the last 16 of the competition.

While they did lose to PSV at the Phillips Stadion earlier in the season, Manchester United are favourites to win tonight, but Stam wants the Dutch champions to show no fear at Old Trafford.

Though he admits that the Red Devils and their stadium can be an intimidating prospect for most teams, the former defender wants PSV to give it a go against Louis van Gaal’s men.

He believes the Dutch champions have nothing to fear and they have already proved this season that they can beat Manchester United. Stam also feels Old Trafford could also help to get something extra out of the players because of its atmosphere.

Stam told Dutch daily De Telegraaf: “It makes sense that teams are in awe when they arrive at Old Trafford.

“This team have a great impact on everyone, and it shows in everything, especially in those days when we achieved so much success.

“On the other hand the PSV guys have a few things to get used to.

"I would advise them not to have too much respect for Manchester United, because at home they have shown what they are capable off.

“And playing at Old Trafford can also help get something extra out of everyone as such an atmosphere could bring the best out of the players.”
