Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has backed his team-mate Roberto Firmino to become a better player, following the Brazilian’s display in the 4-1 win over Manchester City at the weekend.

The attacking midfielder, who joined the Reds from Bundesliga club Hoffenheim in the summer, has struggled to settle down at Anfield.

However, the 24-year-old put in a sparkling performance against the Citizens and managed to score his first Liverpool goal at the Etihad Stadium after latching onto a pass from his compatriot Philippe Coutinho.

And Lovren, who feels Firmino requires some time to settle in his new environment, feels the Brazil international possesses the desired skills and qualities to become a star performer for Liverpool in the future.

“Roberto is growing”, the Croatian was quoted as saying by Liverpool’s official site.
