Former England captain Steven Gerrard has revealed that he does miss playing in the Premier League for Liverpool.

The former Liverpool captain left the Reds at the end of last season, when his contract expired and packed his bags for the United States to join MLS outfit LA Galaxy.

The midfielder remains an iconic figure in English football and amongst the fans at Anfield and there has been speculation that he could return to the club in January, which he has himself denied.

Despite making up his mind about giving his best for the MLS, Gerrard admits that he still misses playing for Liverpool in the high octane arenas of the Premier League.

He indicated that he would have loved to stretch his stay in the English top flight for a few more years.

The former Liverpool captain said on BT Sport, where he has been working as a pundit: “I would be lying if I say that I don’t miss the Premier League.

“And playing for Liverpool and England; you want to stretch it for as long as you can.”

Other than the Premier League title, Gerrard won all the top honours during his time at Liverpool and made 710 apperances for the Reds, which places him behind Ian Callaghan and Jamie Carragher in the club record list.
