Celtic forward Leigh Griffiths is of the opinion that the club’s Europa League fate is still in their own hands, ahead of their crunch game against Ajax tonight.

The Hoops, who lost both their home and away fixtures against Norwegian outfit Molde, are yet to win a game in the continental competition this season.

Ronny Deila’s men are rock-bottom in Group A with just two points from four games, eight behind leaders Molde.

Celtic need to win their last two group fixtures to reach the knockout rounds of the Europa League.

And Griffiths feels a win against the Dutch giants at Celtic Park will boost his side’s confidence for their final group game against Fenerbahce in Turkey next month.

“The last two games against Molde were disappointing but our fate is in our own hands", he told the club's official site.

“We need to get six points from the next two games, starting [Thursday].

"If we don’t perform we won’t go through but if we give ourselves a good chance by getting three points we’ll go to Fenerbahce with a lot of confidence.

“Ajax have to win the game as well and if they do that they’re also in a good position to go through so it’s going to be a tough game for us.”

Celtic drew 2-2 with Ajax, who are just a point and place ahead of the Scottish champions, in the corresponding fixture at the Amsterdam ArenA in September.
