Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists he is fully prepared to spend money in the winter transfer window if he can find the right players.

The Gunners were the only club in Europe's top five leagues not to sign an outfield player in the summer and now, with injuries having struck, Wenger is paying the price.

His side went down to a 2-1 defeat away at West Brom at the weekend, a match which saw further injuries pile up as Mikel Arteta and Francis Coquelin were forced off.

The voices calling for Wenger to spend in the winter window are growing louder and the Frenchman admits he is willing to splash the cash.

However, the players must be right, Wenger insists.

The Arsenal manager was asked about the winter window at a press conference this morning and replied: "If I find the right quality, I will do something."

Wenger's side beat Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 in the Champions League earlier this week and now face a do-or-die final group stage game against Olympiacos.

Arsenal must beat the Greek side by a margin of two goals, or one goal if they score three times, to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.
