Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has lamented the lack of preparation time his team are getting ahead of their clash against Chelsea on Sunday.

Spurs are in a good run of form going into their clash against Chelsea, but are in danger of being fatigued by the time the whistle is blown at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Tottenham will take on Qarabag in Azerbaijan before they travel back to London in the early hours of tomorrow morning and Pochettino feels his side deserve more protection from the Premier League.

He explained Chelsea played on Tuesday night and will have three full days to prepare for Sunday’s clash, but Spurs will barely get a day before they host the English champions this weekend.

While he feels that there is no point in complaining, he believes the scheduling of the game puts his side at a disadvantage with regards to the Blues.

Pochettino said in a press conference yesterday in Azerbaijan: “We need more help from the Premier League.

“It is not a complaint but this is the reality.

"We are playing on Thursday and then will have to take a long journey back home, only to play on Sunday in the morning, in this case against Chelsea.

“Chelsea played yesterday [Tuesday] and they have three days to prepare, but we have only one day. This is clear that it favours our opponents.

“We need to accept the rules, but I need to say what the reality is.”

Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League on 24 points and are favourites to beat 15th placed Chelsea on Sunday.
