Stephan El Shaarawy has revealed that his permanent move to Monaco from AC Milan is a formality at the moment.

The Ligue 1 side signed the Italy international from the Rossoneri in the summer on a season-long loan deal with an option to make the move permanent at a later date.

The 23-year-old has slotted in nicely into the Monaco team and has been more or less a regular in the starting eleven, with already 19 appearances under his belt.

Monaco are expected to make his move to the Stade Louis II permanent soon and the forward revealed that it is only a matter of time before he signs a permanent contract with the Ligue 1 outfit.

He admits that he enjoyed his stay at AC Milan despite the numerous injury problems, but feels the time was right for him to make a move away from the Rossoneri.

El Shaarawy told Gazzetta dello Sport: “It’s only a formality.

“I regret that I will have to sever ties with AC Milan as they were beautiful years, despite the injuries and everything else.

“I will never forget 2012 [when I scored 19 goals] but it was time for a change.”

El Shaarawy has scored two goals and provided one assist in Monaco colours this season and is ready to commit his future at the Stade Louis II.
