Leeds United new boy Liam Bridcutt has revealed that good vibes from Whites manager Steve Evans assisted his decision to move to Elland Road.

The 26-year-old became the recently appointed manager's first signing after completing an emergency loan move from Premier League side Sunderland earlier today.

The defensive midfielder has failed to make it to the first team at the Stadium of Light this season, managing to play only for their Under-21 side thus far.

Bridcutt, a product of Chelsea's youth academy, though feels that he is ready to play from the off and hopes to live up to the expectations that the Leeds United manager has of him.

Speaking about the events that transpired leading up to his move, the midfielder said that a number of clubs had shown interest in securing his services.

However, Leeds manager Evans' personal phone call and a show of confidence in his abilities made his decision easier.

“A few things came up a few weeks ago and the club [Sunderland] spoke to me saying that Leeds were interested in taking me on loan”, Bridcutt told Leeds' official website.

“At the time I had interest from a few other clubs, but Steve rang me and said it was a great opportunity for me to come and play. I think it’s the right move for me.

“It’s been on and off for the last few weeks now. I’ve had a few other options, but from speaking to the manager he’s given me the confidence to come here and show what I can do.

“When the manager shows so much interest in you and puts so much faith in you, you always want to repay that with your performances. That is one of the main reasons I have come here.

“He’s given me a good opportunity to come and play and hopefully I can do that.”
