Serie A outfit Udinese are closing in on a transfer for Arsenal and Chelsea linked Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali.

The teenage midfielder has been on the radar of some top clubs across Europe since he captained Nigeria to their Under-17 World Cup triumph earlier this year and there has been considerable interest from clubs in the English top tier.

Premier League champions Chelsea and Arsenal are widely reported to be on his trail and another English duo, Manchester City and West Ham United, mooted to be keeping a close watch on the player.

However, it seems Udinese could beat the Premier League giants to his signing after reportedly establishing contact with the player’s representatives over a transfer.

And according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, the club are on the verge of agreeing a three-year contract with Nwakali over a move to Italy.

Udinese are aware of the interest in the player from England and are in a hurry to get the deal done in order to keep the Premier League giants away from the 17-year-old starlet.

A versatile player, Nwakali can both occupy the hole behind the striker as well as operate in a more traditional role in the middle of the park.

The midfield wonderkid recently signed up with the agency that looks after Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale’s interests.
