Manchester United striker James Wilson has revealed that joining Brighton and Hove Albion on loan was an easy decision for him to make.

The Red Devils allowed the 19-year-old striker to move to the south coast club on loan last night, until the end of the season and the youngster will look to impress for Chris Houghton’s Championship high flyers.

Despite being a highly rated forward at Old Trafford, Wilson has struggled to get minutes this season and has played just twice for Louis van Gaal’s men.

The forward is delighted to join Brighton and revealed that despite interest from other clubs, he decided to join Houghton’s side because of the brand of football they have been playing this season.

He indicated that once Brighton made their interest known, they became the only horse in the race for his signature.

Wilson said in a press conference: “There were a lot of clubs interested, but there was only one horse in the race.

“It’s a brilliant club, with brilliant facilities and their style of play will suit my game, which was the basis behind my decision.

“There were a lot of good clubs coming in for me, but once Brighton were mentioned I was on my way. They are doing well in the league and so it was an easy decision.”

Wilson could make his debut for Brighton against Birmingham tomorrow at the Falmer Stadium.

Van Gaal said that losing Wilson until the end of the season has depleted his attacking reserves, but he is more interested in the long term development of the Englishman.
