Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that John Terry is a major doubt for Sunday’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Chelsea captain was carried off on a stretcher with an ankle injury during the midweek Champions League victory against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The defender is now struggling to prove his fitness ahead of Chelsea’s short trip to north London to take on Tottenham on Sunday and is a major doubt to take the field at White Hart Lane.

Mourinho revealed that Terry didn’t train earlier this morning, but he is not giving up hope of fielding his captain against a young but impressive Tottenham side in two days' time.

When asked whether Terry will be fit enough to play on Sunday, the Chelsea boss said in a press conference: “I don’t know.

“I don’t want to say it is impossible for him to play; today he didn’t train, but we have little hope.”

Mourinho also revealed that Ramires remains doubtful for Sunday’s clash and delivered positive news on Thibaut Courtois, who has been out of action since September due to a knee injury sustained in training.

“Ramires has a muscular injury, but he has a chance [to play].

“Courtois could play in the first 15 days [of December].”

Chelsea will be hoping to get one over Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday, a place where they lost 5-3 last season.
