Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes that Tottenham Hotspur are genuine title contenders this season.

While Spurs are still fifth in the Premier League table, they are unbeaten in the league since losing to Manchester United on the opening day and are just four points off leaders Leicester City.




Mauricio Pochettino’s young team have garnered widespread praise this season for their solid performances and have been picking up speed over the last few weeks with impressive results under their belt.

They will be hosting struggling champions Chelsea on Sunday and ahead of their clash Mourinho has identified Spurs as genuine title contenders this season.
 


The Chelsea boss feels that they have a good manager in Pochettino and have the quality and stability needed in their squad to sustain a title challenge.

Mourinho said in a press conference this afternoon: “If they tell that they are fighting for the title I won’t laugh.

“They have a good manager and players and have stability in their team.”

Tottenham last won the English top division in 1961 and have finished in the top four just twice in the Premier League era.
