Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says that his side's increased effectiveness from corner kicks is a direct result of him putting Daley Blind in charge of taking them.

The Red Devils scored from a corner kick on Saturday in a 1-1 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, Bastian Schweinsteiger managing to wriggle free from his marker to head into the back of the net.

Van Gaal is happy with how his side have been causing danger from corner kicks and puts the credit squarely in Blind's corner, noting the change to making the Dutchman the taker.

Asked about dangerous corners, Van Gaal said on Sky Sports: "It's because of the taker, Daley Blind.

"When you deliver that pass you can always be dangerous and it was already the last match against PSV also the same", he continued.

"So we have changed the taker and that's the reason."

Van Gaal pounced to take Blind to Manchester United from Ajax last summer, after managing the defender-cum-midfielder with the Netherlands at the 2014 World Cup.

So far this season Blind has clocked up 21 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils, scoring once and providing three assists.

He will be looking to increase his assists tally by supplying further dangerous balls from corners.
