Jose Mourinho feels his Chelsea players carried out his defensive instructions to the letter after the Blues held Tottenham Hotspur to a 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane today, and even merited victory.

The Blues boss was desperate to keep Mauricio Pochettino's in-form side quiet and did not name a recognised striker in his starting eleven, with Eden Hazard the most advanced player for the champions.

Spurs pushed, but Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic kept Heung-Min Son and Moussa Dembele at bay.

Chelsea had one shot on target throughout the whole game, compared to Spurs' four, which came from Hazard, but Hugo Lloris made a superb save to turn the ball away.

Largely though it was a dull affair as Chelsea saw out the match and claimed a point, which Mourinho was happy with as he feels his players did what he told them to on the defensive side of their game.

"I am more than happy with the performance. I am happy with the team collectively", he said on BT Sport.

"It was the best Chelsea performance of the season, against a dangerous team.

"My players did everything to try and interpret my defensive ideas with the ball."

Overall, Mourinho feels his side had control of the match and on the balance of play could have even left White Hart Lane with more than a point in their back pocket.

The Portuguese explained: "We had control of the game and had the best chances. My team deserved more than a point."

Chelsea have now extended their unbeaten run to three games as they look to turn the corner in their season. The Blues are next in action next weekend at home against Bournemouth.
