Rangers boss Mark Warburton feels it would only be sensible for the Scottish Challenge Cup final to be played at Hampden Park.

The Gers booked their spot in the final to take on Peterhead in April on Saturday when they saw off St Mirren 4-0 at Ibrox with an impressive display.

Warburton is now looking forward to the final and hopes that tradition will be broken with by staging the event at the national stadium; no Challenge Cup final has even been played at the national ground.

The Gers boss told Rangers TV: "It’s something to look forward to. Hopefully it will be at Hampden, which will make it a great occasion for many of the boys who haven’t played there.

"Hopefully Rangers take a really strong contingent behind them to support the boys and it will be a good day out", he added.

However, Warburton is not in the mood to start to think about the Challenge Cup final just yet and ordered his players to instead focus on Tuesday evening's Scottish Championship game against Dumbarton.

"Right now, our focus very swiftly moves onto Dumbarton on Tuesday night, and making sure we deliver another good performance", he explained.

Rangers sit top of the Scottish Championship table, but only on goal difference ahead of Hibernian after a good run by Alan Stubbs' side.

Victory over Dumbarton would open up a three-point lead for the Gers.
