Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hailed a "big step" from Jordon Ibe after his side defeated Swansea City 1-0 at Anfield today in conditions which were windy and difficult for both teams.

The start to the game was poor for both sides with chances rare and the action less than thrilling. It was Swansea who went in happier, having kept the score level at 0-0 at the break.

The second half did not look to be improving, but then, just past the hour mark, an Ibe cross was handballed in the penalty area.

Up stepped James Milner and made no mistake, finding the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Liverpool saw out the win, even bringing on Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson off the bench for vital minutes on the pitch.

And Klopp feels the conditions were tough for the Reds, telling the BBC: "It was really difficult for both teams, the wind was in the stadium more than the stands.

"Swansea defended very well. They had some problems in the last few games, but they were more compact today and showed respect for our last few games", the German continued.

"We made this one goal. It is different [to the 4-1 win over Man City], but to get results in a row you have to fight for them. I am proud of the lads. It is a good result in difficult circumstances."

Klopp also made special mention of Ibe's performance, feeling the winger was just as effective defensively as in attack, something which he feels is a big step forward for the youngster.

"They did not have that big chances. We defended really well.

"What Jordon Ibe did in a tactical sense with his defending was a big step for him and us."
