Leeds United head coach Steve Evans admits he was extremely impressed with the performance of Liam Bridcutt against QPR on Saturday.

Bridcutt made his debut for the Whites against the R's, having joined Leeds before the emergency loan window slammed shut from Premier League side Sunderland.

Although Leeds went down to a 1-0 away defeat and their performance in general did not please Evans, he was delighted with what he saw from Bridcutt and put any errors in the midfielder's game down to his lack of minutes on the pitch this season.

"I thought he was fantastic", Evans said on BBC Radio Leeds.

"There was a little bit of rustiness at times when he overran the ball and maybe a little bit sloppy at times when he gave it away and got caught the odd time", the Scot continued.

"But I think the two best players for me were the boys who have not played for a long time in Charlie Taylor and Liam Bridcutt", he added.

Evans threw Bridcutt straight into the team and has gone on record as stating his belief that after two weeks of football the ex-Brighton man will be the best player in the Championship.

Following their loss at QPR, Leeds are just four points clear of the relegation zone.
