Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has eased fresh injury concerns, after the 27-year-old was withdrawn after 63 minutes in his side’s 3-1 win over Southampton at the Etihad on Saturday.

Aguero injured his hamstring while playing for Argentina against Ecuador in the World Cup qualifiers during October and spent the better part of two months in the treatment room.

Aguero was visibly in some discomfort when he was withdrawn against the Saints and the Citizens were sweating over their star striker’s fitness.

The striker took to Twitter to inform fans and well-wishers that he is fine and the knock he sustained during weekend’s win was just a ‘harmless bump on the heel.’

Aguero wrote: "For everyone asking, I'm fine. It's just a harmless bump on the heel. Thanks, all of you, for the support!"

Aguero won the Premier League Golden Boot 2014/15 award for his 26 goals in the last campaign.

The striker scored five goals in the 6-1 rout of Newcastle at the Etihad, but missed the next four fixtures due to injury.

The news will come as a massive boost for the Citizens, who are struggling with a growing injury list.

Captain Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala, Pablo Zabaleta, Joe Hart and Samir Nasri are other members of the first team currently sidelined.
