Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-Min Son has won the Asian Football Confederation Asian International Player of the Year award.

The 23-year-old, who featured in the goalless draw with Chelsea yesterday, joined Spurs from Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

The South Korean international has thus far scored three goals and provided two assists in nine games for the north London club.

Son, who represented his nation at last summer’s World Cup and even found the back of the net in Brazil, scored 17 goals in 42 games for Leverkusen in the 2014/15 campaign.

Swansea City’s Ki Sung-Yueng and Queens Park Rangers midfielder Massimo Luongo, who formerly played for Tottenham, were also shortlisted for the prestigious award, which was announced at the AFC Annual Awards in New Delhi yesterday.
