West Ham United striker Mauro Zarate has explained that his side are not pleased with their 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion yesterday.

The Hammers, who are in midst of a slump, took a 17th-minute lead at Upton Park, courtesy of Zarate’s free-kick before a Winston Reid own goal levelled proceedings for the visitors after the break.

The draw against the Baggies means West Ham have now failed to win their last four fixtures in the Premier League.

And Zarate, who feels his side should have increased their lead in the first half, believes the equaliser just after the break killed the game for West Ham.

"We didn't feel so good with the result", the Argentine told the club’s official site.

"We worked for the three points, and thought all week about taking them – doing the pressing, doing a good job, but it wasn't enough.

"We had to be 2-0 up after the first half. We were dangerous, with Manu [Manuel Lanzini], [Diafra] Sakho and me we had many options.

"But in the second half they scored so quickly and that killed us."

West Ham, who dropped down to eighth in the Premier League table after the draw with West Brom, currently have 22 points from 14 games.

Slaven Bilic’s side will next face third-placed Manchester United in an away game at the weekend.
