Leeds United defender Liam Cooper will welcome any potential reinforcements in January with open arms, as the Whites prepare to host fourth placed Hull City on Saturday with a relegation scrap looming.

Steve Evans’ side lost their last game 1-0 away to QPR, with second half substitute Charlie Austin netting the winner with his first touch of the game. They are now just four points above the drop zone.

Cooper expressed his disappointment at conceding a soft goal against the London outfit, but believes his side need to move on from the debacle and focus on their next game.

Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt has joined the Whites on a season-long loan and Cooper believes the 26-year-old’s arrival will help his team.

“Yes, we would like to think so [that he improves our quality]”, Cooper told LUTV.

“He’s come from the Premier League and it’s not easy in the Premier League and obviously he’s a good player and he’s proven he can play in the Championship and he’s a great lad as well.

“So, we have welcomed him in and I thought he did well today. He’s good.”

The 24-year-old defender is open to the idea of potential arrivals in January, if the incoming players help them get the results that they need.

“Definitely, if the players are going to better the team.

“But, I think that’s what we have to look at, obviously if he’s going to come in and make us better and get us results to get us up that table, well then you are welcome every day, definitely.”

Evans’ men currently sit in 17th in the Championship league table, having accumulated 19 points from 18 games. But, Cooper is upbeat about his team’s chances against Hull City on Saturday.

“Like I said, it’s the Championship.

“Anybody can beat anybody and we will definitely go in positive to beat them.”
