Jerome Sinclair has insisted that he is proud of Liverpool Under-21s’ performance, despite their 3-2 loss to Manchester United last night at Leigh Sports Village.

The Red Devils, who fielded internationals Marouane Fellaini and Sergio Romero in the game, took a first-half lead, courtesy of the big Belgian.

Nick Powell then doubled Manchester United’s advantage in the 79th minute and it seemed that the game was settled.

However, the Reds battled back in the contest, courtesy of goals from Sinclair and Madger Gomes.

But Liverpool’s spirited fightback paid no divided as Sean Goss netted Manchester United’s winner in the 88th minute.

And Sinclair, who was displeased with his side for not managing a draw, was however pleased with the manner in which his team-mates fought back in the contest.

“It was great to get on the scoresheet, but I'm just gutted about the result. I was really proud of the lads”, he told LFC TV.

“A lot of teams’ heads would have dropped after going 2-0 down, but we kept going and got ourselves back in the game.

“I am just gutted that we couldn’t hold it out till the end.”

Sinclair, who scored against Victor Valdes in the same fixture last season, has thus far made three senior appearances in all competitions for Liverpool.
