Mark Warburton has blasted suggestions he could quit Rangers to take over at English Championship side Fulham.

The Englishman, who is from London and whose family still live in the city, has been identified by Fulham as a contender to take over at Craven Cottage.

Warburton only took charge at Rangers in the summer, having been in charge of Brentford last term. And he is unhappy with reports suggesting he could up sticks to head back to the capital.

He took to Twitter to write: "Both bemused and frustrated by shockingly incorrect stories from certain media outlets. I am going nowhere and no club has approached me.

"Such stories are incorrect and disrespectful to me, to Rangers and to the supposed interested party which in this case is Fulham. Appalling", Warburton continued.

"Why are such stories released without any sensible investigation? Rangers fans, Rangers as a club and indeed Fulham deserve better."

Warburton was in the dugout on Tuesday night as Rangers registered a 4-0 win over Dumbarton at Ibrox to move three points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship table.

The Englishman has enjoyed success in charge of the Gers so far and has the side firmly on course to return to the Scottish top flight.

His work has not gone unnoticed south of the border however.
