Rangers assistant manager David Weir has admitted that the Gers don’t have adequate knowledge of their Scottish Cup fourth round opponents Cowdenbeath.

Colin Nish's side produced an outstanding display in the third round of the Scottish Cup to brush aside Arbroath and book a berth in the next round.

The Scottish League One outfit will travel to Ibrox to take on Mark Warburton’s side in the second week of January.

Weir insisted that his side will focus on the four league games preceding the cup tie, before moving their attention to the Blue Brazil.

The 45-year-old reiterated that his team will do the required homework on Nish's side when the tie is around the corner.

Speaking in an interview with the club’s official website, Weir said: “I don’t know a great deal about them if I am honest and we will focus on our league games first, we still have four games before we play the cup tie.

“As we get closer we will watch them and do a bit of homework on them but the priority now is the league, getting those results, focussing on the next game and trying to treat that as professionally as we can.

“The cup will come around and we’ll look at that in the couple of weeks preceding that.”

The Gers currently sit at the top of the Scottish Championship and one of the four matches before the cup tie is against second placed Hibernian.
