FC Midtjylland midfielder Kristoffer Olsson is confident about his team's chances in the Europa League against Manchester United, taking comfort from having knocked Southampton out of the competition.

The English giants were pitted against the Danish champions in the Europa League Round of 32 draw yesterday and the little known side from Denmark are excited about taking on the might of Manchester United.

While Manchester United are disappointed at not making it into the last 16 of the Champions League, Midtyjlland are eagerly looking forward to taking on the Red Devils in Europe's second tier competition.

Founded in 1999, they are a relatively new outfit in their own country, but have made rapid progress through the years and even won the league title last season, usurping the tradition superpower Copenhagen.

A number of their players are childhood Manchester United fans and one of them is Olsson, who is eagerly looking forward to the tie.

While considered a minnow when compared to the 20-time English champions, Midtjylland have already proven this season that they can beat a Premier League team when they defeated Southampton in the Europa League qualifiers.

And while Manchester United are the favourites to win, Olsson feels there is no reason why they can’t get a shock result in the last 32 tie.

The midfielder told Fotbollskanalen: “We knocked out Southampton and while the level will go up by a few notches, there is always a chance, but we must play two good matches.”

While the midfielder feels that the Red Devils have a number of famous faces in their squad, he doesn't believe any of them are in particularly great form.

He continued: "They have [Bastian] Schweinsteiger, [Michael] Carrick and [Wayne] Rooney. None of them are in great form, but it is clear they are still very good players."

FC Midtjylland are currently third in the Danish top tier and are known for their set-piece prowess.
