Liverpool Under-18 boss Neil Critchley has heaped praise on Brooks Lennon as the striker is slowly getting to grips with life at the club.

The 18-year-old joined the Reds’ academy in the summer from MLS side Real Salt Lake after scoring 31 goals in the previous campaign.

Lennon’s start to his career at Liverpool was disrupted with injury, but the starlet has been slowly regaining his former qualities since his return from the sidelines.

And Critchley, who admitted that Liverpool had to work extremely hard to rope in Lennon, feels the forward is a very talented individual.

However, the manager is unwilling to put too much pressure on the teenager as he wants Lennon to enjoy his football on Merseyside.

“We’ve had to be very patient, as have Brooks and his family, to finally get his paperwork and the documents to come over”, he told the club’s official site.

“A lot of people have put a lot of work into it and we are delighted he is here. Brooks came over in the summer, but he had an injury so it was a frustrating time for him and us.

“We are just delighted he is now fit and training and starting to build up his minutes. He’s been working extremely hard and he is a very focused individual.

“Brooks has good talent and he’s a got a good character as well, a good personality and we are looking forward to working with him in the future.

“We are not going to put too much pressure on him. We will let him enjoy his football and let him fly a little bit.”

Lennon, who had a brief trial at Liverpool in 2014, also enjoyed similar spells at Aston Villa and Sporting Lisbon.

The youngster has three caps and a solitary goal for the United States’ Under-18 side.
