Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes is on the verge of joining Mexican outfit Cruz Azul in the January transfer window, according to Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo.

The Spaniard has been isolated from the first team since falling out with manager Louis van Gaal last summer and has been training alone for months at the club’s training base at Carrington.

Van Gaal is in no mood to recall the goalkeeper to the first team and has been desperate to sell him since the summer transfer window; it seems Valdes is on the verge of leaving Manchester United.

It has been suggested that the 33-year-old will move to Mexico with Cruz Azul in the January transfer window and if everything goes according to plan the transfer is expected to be completed soon.

Mexican outfits Atlas and Veracruz were also interested in him, but it seems Cruz Azul has beaten them to the post and are on the verge of signing a multiple Champions League winner in the January transfer window.
