Former Ajax and PSV Eindhoven manager Aad de Mos has lauded young midfielder Riechedly Bazoer, explaining it is not for nothing Barcelona are keen on scooping him up as he is someone who plays on instinct.

Bazoer has been linked with a number of clubs, including Arsene Wenger's Arsenal, but recently let slip that he knows Barcelona are keeping a close watch on his development in Amsterdam.

And De Mos feels that the midfielder is powering his own development by playing on instinct and not doing what he is told by Ajax coach Frank de Boer.

The 68-year-old said on Dutch TV channel Ziggosport's Peptalk: "He plays purely naturally.

"He doesn't listen to Frank de Boer, it all comes naturally", he continued.

"It's not for nothing that Barcelona want him", De Mos added.

The 19-year-old has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Ajax so far this season, scoring two goals and providing four assists for his team-mates.

Ajax have Bazoer locked down on a contract running until the summer of 2020, putting them in a strong position to dictate terms over his potential departure.

He has also been linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
