Lazio are expecting goalkeeper Federico Marchetti to sign a new contract this month, despite interest from Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

Recently the English side lodged an enquiry about Marchetti, whose current contract with Lazio expires at the end of the season.

But according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Lazio appear to have convinced Marchetti to pen an extension and are putting the finishing touches to the agreement before announcing it.

Lazio have been keen not to lose the goalkeeper and are now confident he will remain.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper joined Lazio from Cagliari in 2011 and quickly established himself between the sticks in Rome.
