West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has insisted that Andy Carroll has the quality to represent England in at Euro 2016, following the striker’s performance in the 2-0 win over Liverpool this weekend.

Carroll, whose progress at Upton Park has been hampered by injuries, scored the second goal against his former club as the Hammers completed a memorable double over the Reds this season; the London outfit won the corresponding fixture 3-0 at Anfield in August.

It was Carroll’s third Premier League goal of the season, and Bilic was extremely pleased with the 26-year-old’s overall performance against the Merseyside giants.

And the manager, who insisted that Carroll needs to steer clear of injuries to become a star at West Ham, backed the forward to break into England’s Euro 2016 squad if he manages to put in similar impressive displays over a series of games.

“Everything Andy did was good, defending, holding the ball up, I think every ball Adrian put up he got, and we put up quite a few”, Bilic told the club’s official site.

“Now he is fit, it is all about him. He needs to train hard every day and work hard to improve. Then, and only then, will he become a great asset for us, it is up to him.

“He has all the quality to be in the England squad in the Euros, of course. I don’t want to talk about the national side too much.

“Does he have the quality? Of course, he just needs to perform like this over a series of games.”

Carroll, who has nine caps and two goals for England to his name, last represented the Three Lions in a World Cup qualifier against San Marino in December 2012.
