Manchester United have confirmed that Borussia Dortmund have agreed to cancel Adnan Januzaj’s loan agreement.

Januzaj played regularly in the first team before Louis van Gaal took the surprising decision to loan him out to Dortmund last summer, but the Belgian has struggled for minutes in Germany.

The winger just made 12 appearances for Dortmund, which included only three starts and all his six Bundesliga appearances came from the bench. Januzaj is keen to play more football, but was struggling to make his mark at the Westfalenstadion.

The Red Devils confirmed that Dortmund have agreed to cut short his loan stint in Germany and the Belgian has returned to Manchester to link up with Van Gaal’s squad for the rest of the campaign, with immediate effect.

A statement on the club’s official site read: “Borussia Dortmund has agreed to cancel the loan agreement for Adnan Januzaj.

“Adnan will rejoin the first-team squad immediately. He has returned to Manchester in order to clarify the details.”

Januzaj made four apperances and scored a winning goat at Aston Villa earlier in the season, before he was shipped out to the Westfalenstadion.

The winger will be hoping to kickstart his career under a familiar environment at Old Trafford and again become part of the club’s long term plans.
