Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman has explained that he does not blame Josh Windass and Matt Crooks for signing for Rangers.

The duo, who signed pre-contractual agreements with Rangers earlier in the week, will join the Scottish giants next summer.

Stanley offered Windass and Crooks fresh contracts to extend their stay at the English League Two club beyond this season, but the pair refused to sign.

And Coleman admitted that at the moment Stanley cannot financially compete with big clubs; hence he thinks Windass and Crooks are not wrong to leave Crown Ground for Ibrox.

“Accrington can’t compete with the big clubs, certainly money-wise, the players have a great chance to play for a massive club in name and in front of a big crowd”, he told the club’s official site.

“In a few years’ time, they will be back to where they were before their troubles and it’s a big stadium with great facilities.

“I don’t blame them, they have to take the opportunity and they had every right to sign for Rangers. I wish them all the best.”

Attacking midfielder Windass has been in fine form for Stanley in the present campaign, scoring 11 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions, in addition to providing six assists.

On the other hand, midfield enforcer Crooks has made a total of 24 appearances for Coleman’s side this season, scoring seven times and setting up two goals.
