Lille head coach Frederic Antonetti has revealed that he is keen to sign out of favour Chelsea striker Loic Remy during the January transfer window, but gives his side only a small chance in the race for the Frenchman.

Despite winning a Premier League medal earlier this year, the French forward didn’t play a big enough role in his first season at the club and things haven’t improved radically this term too, as he is still on the fringes of the first eleven at Stamford Bridge.

Remy wants to play regular football leading up to the summer as he keen to find a berth in the France squad for the European Championship and is aware that his chances will diminish if he keeps warming the bench in west London.

A number of clubs are keen to sign the striker during the January transfer window on a loan deal, with Aston Villa and Galatasaray believed to be his suitors, but he also has takers in his native France.

Lille boss Antonetti has expressed an interest in signing him and while it might take time, he does feel Remy knows all about the club and life back home.

The Lille head coach said in a press conference: “We know that we have just a small chance.

“We've worked together. We don't need to convince him. Sometimes to get things done it takes time.”

Remy has a contract until 2018 with the Blues, and has made just one Premier League start this season.
