Celtic manager Ronny Deila has hailed Leigh Griffiths as his "dream striker" following the 25-year-old's brace in Sunday's 3-0 Scottish Cup win away at Stranraer.

Griffiths found the back of the net in the 18th and 84th minutes, goals which acted as a sandwich for Carlton Cole's 42nd minute header for the Bhoys.

The striker has missed time recently, sitting out three Scottish Premiership games before returning as a substitute in a 1-0 win over Partick Thistle, a match he scored in.

He clocked up all 90 minutes on Sunday against Stranraer, delighting Deila, who is thrilled with his contribution.

"Leigh is important for us", Deila said via his club's site.

"He scores goals and works really hard for the team as well so I’m happy to have him back.

"He’s my dream striker."

Griffiths' brace against Stranraer has moved him on to 22 goals this season, while overall for Celtic he has 49 strikes to his name.

It remains to be seen whether Deila will choose to look for another 90 minutes from Griffiths on Friday night when Celtic are next in action away at the Premiership's bottom club Dundee United.

Deila switched to a 4-4-2 formation against Stranraer to field both Cole and Griffiths together in attack.
