Harry Kane has saluted the Tottenham Hotspur fans for helping his side grab a late 2-2 draw to force a replay against Leicester City in their FA Cup third round tie.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino made a number of changes to his side and the home side took the lead after just eight minutes when Christian Eriksen drilled into the back of the net following a shot from Nacer Chadli being turned away.

Leicester drew level however through a header from Marcin Wasilewski in the 19th minute, before they then went ahead shortly after kick off in the second half through Shinji Okazaki.

But Spurs eventually managed to draw level when they were awarded a controversial penalty in the 89th minute, from which Kane, on as a substitute, made no mistake.

Spurs have a replay and Kane insisted that his side were desperate not to slip out of the FA Cup at the third round.

"It was very important and we definitely didn't want to go out in the third round. We play them again on Wednesday and will have to play them again in the FA Cup", Kane was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"You want to be playing all the time, but it is down to the manager and I just wanted to make an impact when I came on.

"We have a great bunch of lads, the staff, the players and hopefully we can keep working hard and keep progressing."

And Kane feels the Tottenham faithful played a key role in the side dragging themselves over the finishing line with a draw.

"The fans kept us in the game and we're happy we could keep them in it with a replay", the striker added.
